I wanted to install Revolution better in localhost (xammp server), but i keep getting the error:
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MODx found your memory_limit setting to be below the recommended setting of 32M. MODx attempted to set the memory_limit to 32M, but was unsuccessful. Please set the memory_limit setting in your php.ini file to 32M or higher before proceeding.
    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I have set the memory limit in php from 32 to 64mb but I still cant go beyond that stage and subsequently modx Revolution cant be installed. Please what could be the problem? Has any other person encountered this?

Wanted to look at studying with Revolution early.

Validate your memory setting with php_info() http://us3.php.net/phpinfo.

it is much easier for people to render technical assistance if you include more details about your configuration. Please be specific.

Xampp runs on multiple platforms. What is yours? What version are of xampp you running?

I use 128M on machines I use revo on, I’m not sure you need it this high for installation bt I’ve found in the past the building the transport package uses more than 64M.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

Did you restart Apache after changing the php.ini setting?

Thanks for replying .I restarted windows since apache was installed as a service.
I opened the php.ini file again and it reads 64mb as the memory limit.

I’m no Windows guru, but I do believe that you could just restart the Apache service from some service control panel or another.

Anyway, if PHP is an Apache module, any time you make changes to the php.ini file you have to restart Apache to make it read the php.ini file again.

Can you see a Xammp icon on the taskbar?

With Wamp, you just have to click on the wamp icon and select "Restart all services".
It should be the same with Xampp

On my Xampp installation on windows 2000 there are a few php.ini files, there’s two in the php directory(php4 and 5) and one in the apache/bin directory, this latter one is the one you should change as this is the one apache uses. Check this and restart apache.

In Vista, you can also use this generic method to restart Apache

                      1. Click on Start
                      2. Type "Services"
                      3. Appease the UAC demon, if necessary
                      4. Find the Apache service and click on it
                      5. Click on Restart at the left
