I have asked before but no help yet! Really hope anyone can help me on this.

When i send a webpage (with TeMailer newsletter Module) to hotmail, the base url is deleted out of the header by hotmail. Other mailingprograms don’t.
So I can’t make a link to the website, http://www.domain.com/mypage.html will become http://mypage.html

Is there a way to get an absolute Url in the contentarea?
When i choose absolute Url in the config it doesnt work. huh
TinyMCE removes the absolute Url somehow.

    Àny tips will be welcome.

      Hi,
I think I found something for you. I re-created the problem on my Evo test system.

      Try this:
      Elements... Manage Elements... Plugins

Buried in the list, click "Tiny MCE..."

Click "Configuration" tab, and scroll down to "Path Options", and choose "fullpathurl", and Save.

I’ve never seen this before. But it worked great for me. smiley Oh, and in case it matters, in the MODx config, I have Tiny set to use "Custom" theme.

Email newsletters are a special very weird breed; one must use HTML circa 1995, I have never been able to use a HEAD section to work in all email systems, and all styles must be inline, I know, it’s crazy!

How to do all this in Revo? No idea whatsoever. smiley

      Cheers, Dave

          Hi Four,
          Glad that helped!

Email newsletters are very, very strange to code. I’m a CSS guy, and it requires me to lots of things I don’t like doing. Tables, inline styles, no HEAD section, etc. Essentially, I have to shut my brain off, and then I can do it. smiley

Outlook is especially bad, as usual. A couple ideas:
          - For images, try "align=right" instead of using styles to "float: right".
          - Table cell background images will not work at all in Outlook 2007.

Here’s a whole bunch of good techniques:

            thanks!

yes i noticed today the float right doesn’t work in outlook.
all other programs do. grr. i dont think there is any solution for ms outlook to automatic change the float to align.

            i’ll check that link!

indeed, background images doesn’t work in ms outlook 2007 / 2010.

it’s a pain in the ass.

              I feel your pain, amigo!

btw, align=right will probably work in all those email clients... give it a try! The operative idea - don’t do anything modern at all in styling.

Email newsletters are a very particular skill. Before I’d done a couple, I thought I could make one without trouble. How hard could it be? Very hard sometimes. smiley Bonus: it’s also boring - coding inline styles on every single thing... YAWN! So charge them real money for doing this!

Ah so into the popup image > appearance > style align=right
                might work indeed, not checked.

yea i keep getting better and better at it.
                solving problems after problems.

still wonder if/how u can get images linked to attachment or just a coded image (base64 or smt) where u don’t need images, that last i don’t know much about but i think there is a way to show images with only code.

                  Hi,
I should be a little more specific... I believe the path you described is through the Tiny editor. The "align right" there, if I remember, will put a class on the element like so:

                  <p class="justifyright"> blah blah blah </p>

Then this may actually do nothing; I’ve had to write CSS to activate this:

                  .justifyright {float: right;}

This will only work on the site itself because the email system will not be able to point to any separate CSS, only inline stuff.

What I was talking about is like this, it’s primitive, yet may work in webmail systems:

                  <img src="http://yahoo.com/home.jpg" align="right" />

And unfortunately, that is not available via the Tiny editor. It will have to be added some other way. I know, it’s a huge pain. Another thing you can do is to make a template that uses TV’s for any user input. Then you can control such things via the template.

hmm dunno if i can use phx, because when no image is entered there must be no code.

Yeah, PHx can be programmed to do different things when a field is empty.

In Revo this is done natively using Output Filters... I just used it for that exact purpose, and there are loads of filter variations, it’s really hot.
