Hello,
I am trying to install Revolution, but get the following error:
"MODx requires the PDO extension when native PDO is being used and it does not appear to be loaded."
So, I recompiled httpd, with:
--enable-pdo=shared --with-pdo-mysql=shared --with-pdo-sqlite=shared --with-sqlite=shared
There’s now a directory with four extensions in:
pdo_mysql.so
pdo.so
pdo_sqlite.so
sqlite.so
However... as soon as I add them to php.ini as extensions httpd won’t start.
extension=pdo.so
extension=pdo_sqlite.so
extension=sqlite.so
extension=pdo_mysql.so
I can add the last line, and httpd will start. But if I add any of the others, like pdo.so, httpd won’t start.
Specifically it says it’s started okay, but hasn’t. I’ve tried showing errors when I start, but nothing is thrown up. It just goes "Yeah, everything is fine"... but it’s not.
I’m using Apache 2.2.15, PHP 5.2.14, mySQL 5.1.44.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
As another potential question - can I run Revolution with out this PDO thing?
I’ve not needed it in about 6 years of being a sysadmin, and having spent another couple of hours trying to fix this I’m about done with my patience!
Thanks.

PDO is an absolute requirement for Revolution. Our classic codebase Evolution does not require PDO.

I was really hoping to try Revolution... but I guess I’ll go with Evolution.
I do love Evolution. But you know.. wanna see the new things and am worried that Evolution will start to lose favour with Revolution out there.
Sorry to bump, but does anyone know anything about this problem?
I am setting up two sites for clients... and would really like to make the move to Revolution.
Thanks.
You have to have PDO. No exceptions.

Where is this directory? You have to put these modules in PHP’s modules directory for it to see them as in /usr/lib/php/modules or /usr/lib64/php/modules.
What’s the output of php -m?
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
Hi there,
Thanks for the reply.
The extensions are under: /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-zts-20060613
I set the directive extension_dir = /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-zts-20060613
The output of php -m is:
[PHP Modules]
ctype
curl
date
dom
filter
gd
hash
iconv
imap
json
libxml
mbstring
mysql
mysqli
pcre
posix
Reflection
session
SimpleXML
SPL
standard
tokenizer
XCache
xml
xmlreader
xmlwriter
zlib
[Zend Modules]
XCache
Ok, the PDO modules etc aren’t there, this is why Revo is not seeing them. Where are the rest of your PHP modules? The extension_dir may not be working, you may need to run ldconfig to really add it to your library path.
In a PHP cli session try dl(’PDO.so’) and see what you get back or just copy the so files into your real PHP modules dir and try php -m again.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
