I get the error "Could not download and create transport package with signature" when I try to download and install a package.

When I click the "Download" button, that error appears after >30 seconds. It always delays this long even if the transport file is small. Checking the directory with FTP afterwards, the transport zip is there, and it actually installs fine if I choose the scan local package option.

I checked error.log and it says "MySQL server has gone away". However, I’m not sure if this is simply because of the 30 second delay or if it’s the actual cause of the problem.

    Any ideas?

I’ve been able to install a few packages now, but it’s still hit-and-miss and I get the "MySQL server has gone away" error frequently, also when installing. I guess there’s some MySQL timeout that’s triggered if the download or install takes too long...

Sounds like your Apache server is segfaulting, or possibly MySQL is running out of memory.

You can also try the alternative zip driver, PCLZip, by setting the ’archive_with’ System Setting in MODx to 1.

Apache doesn’t seem to be segfaulting. The database connection is only lost after the (lengthy) download or install process which leads to failed INSERTs. The CMS keeps functioning fine otherwise, even after this error. I’m still betting on some kind of timeout somewhere that’s triggered if downloading or installing takes too long.

I will try Revolution on another server to see how it goes there... EDIT: scratch that, pdo_mysql is missing on that server..

              PHP 5.2.14 and mysql 5.0.91

I tried to find another server to test it on, but unfortunately out of the 4 servers I have access to (all running recent PHP versions), only this one seems to have pdo_mysql enabled.

This error sometimes occurs on some mysql environments when a query is issued and a result set is not completely fetched. But I cannot find anything like that in the package installation process. Hmmmm....

Sorry to dig up this post, but i had this issue on my "workstation"
                  Apache 2.4
                  Php 5.4
                  MS SQL Server 2012.

I reply to the thread. I tested now with SQLExpress 2008... No issue at all. Next time I'll test with 2008 and 2008 r2.

It might be due to 2012 but why... no idea

                      Hi,

I am facing similar issues. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

                      Server details:

                      PHP: 5.4.16
                      MySQL: 5.1.69

I am running this on a load balancing environment using 3 servers.
