No phpmyadmin - fast solution to import the .sql file

Hi,

Somebody has a host that does not have phpMyadmin.

I tried installing but seems that some libraries are missing. Is there a fast way to import the sql file?
Maybe a snippet or a plugin?

I don’t have a good answer, but I’ve never head of a host without phpMyAdmin. I thought I’d mention that in some versions of cPanel, the phpMyAdmin link is in small type at the very bottom of where you go when you click on "MySQL databases" in cPanel -- below the databases and users. You have to scroll down to see it.

Perhaps SQLBuddy could be a solution for you.

You can also execute the SQL in a snippet or module. I do this often when the client does not give me access to phpmyadnin. This is specially the case with cPanel servers since you need cPanel access to use phpmyadmin.

You tried to install MODx? You don’t need phpMyAdmin access to install it. You need the DB-details (server, db-name, username, pw), but that’s all.

The problem is that the .sql file contains comments. For some reason they have to be stripped down so the query works

modx is intalled. The development files are there but I needed a way to move the db tables from development to live

I found a solution phpMiniAdmin. It’s just one file. It seems to work but I have to split the sql file in more files because it crashes if I want to execute it all.

If you have SSH access, why not just use the mysql client binary? It’s much much faster than phpMyAdmin, doesn’t crash on large imports, and well, it’s generally just more reliable to use. Same with exports via mysqldump.

FYI - BkupMODx has a restore function that loads sql files.
