    Hi,

I’m in the process of upgrading a client site to Evo and have encountered a major issue.

I’ve upgraded our other sites without issue, however for this site I decided to select to take the site off-line from within the control panel and this coursed me major issues in accessing the site. Having never selected the off-line setting I thought this would course little harm. However just after selecting this setting the admin css stylesheet disappeared and the site went completely off-line, including admin access.

I have contacted my hosting company to recover the site from backup however this has had little effect even tho the database the files have been recovered I’m still getting no site access.

Looking within the database I can see the field ’setting_name’ has a value of ’site_unavailable_message’ would this mean the site is still off-line. Can I manually update this? and if so what value should be entered.

The ’site_status’ is also set to 1, not sure if this helps.

    The site is at www.thenewhomescompany.com.

If anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear feedback as I’m currently a little stumped.

Taking the site off-line only affects the front-end, not the manager. There must be some other problem with the back-end as a coincidence. Did you take the site offline before uploading the new files and running upgrade. It’s not clear at all what steps you were in the middle of though you mentioned you were "in the process of upgrading".

        hi OpenGeek,

        1. I had taken a backup of the files and DB via phpmyadmin
        2. I selected to take the site off-line via the control panel
        3. the admin css disappeared, I refreshed the admin and the site was down, I’ve got a 508 error in Firefox.

        4. I tried to upload my config file from my backup but this has had no effect.
        5. I’ve contacted server support who have recovered files but no effect

Can you see the website? [maybe I have some type of IP ban of my connection]

        I’m using 0.9.6.3

Could it be that when you transfered over a new config file that one was in wrong encoding?
How I would go with this:
You have a backup - try install that one (files+db) on a local server with 0963
and if that works (test off-line mode etc.) - then wipe everything from live server (files+db) and start over.
