Has anyone else encountered problems saving things in the manager? Specifically, I’m unable to save a template... the page just spins, with the "Saving, please wait..." message, but it never saves. We had a problem with this site that resulted (I think at least in part) from our process of working on a dev server, then transferring the database dump to the production server.
Nothing is unusual about this template as far as I can tell... it’s got 4 template variables, I have the radio button checked to "Close" after editing, but it just won’t save.
Additional Info:
-- It’s not a connection issue (other manager pages load very quickly)
-- Other templates save fine (short templates)
-- The problem persists even after clearing site cache.
Is there an upper limit to how big a template can be? Are we running into a PHP memory limit? The templates aren’t that big... maybe just a page or two... nothing crazy. Is there something else that could be causing this?
Any ideas of what I should investigate? Thanks. This is really frustrating.
It’s 9.6.3.

I’m in Thailand right now, and the webserver is in TX (I think)... but one of my coworkers is able to save to the templates without problems, so this DOES appear to be a connection issue... odd that it only affects some templates and not others...
Thanks for the link.
Maybe try clearing the cookies for this site, I remember reading about problems with corrupted cookies.

Hmm... nope, clearing cookies for the site didn’t seem to affect the behavior. This is really frustrating... what if someone needs to edit their site while traveling (like me), or what if they have the site hosted internationally... what connection issues need to be addressed? This is our own server that I’ve set up -- admittedly, I am not a Linux guru, and I know for certain that certain settings on there are not 100% standard, but I’m not even sure where to begin to look if this is a settings issue (?)
Could be a proxy or firewall issue with your connection. This would most likely be the week link when you are traveling.

Sigh... I was afraid of that. Maybe I can find a proxy server to route requests through.

I’m continuing to struggle with this... the problems with saving also occur when I try to save pages, but ONLY with one of my MODx sites... all the others behave normally. The one I have a problem with is the one on a dedicated server... and I’m not 100% sure that server is configured correctly. Chances are good that there is something wrong with the configuration that is causing these issues. I can’t get any of my other MODx sites to display the same behavior, so I don’t think this is a connection issue.
I know this is extremely technical, but does anyone have a place to start? What I’d love to see is a full blown list of EXACTLY what a server needs to run MODx, including PHP and Apache modules. Has someone put such a list together?

That’s close, Ryan, but it still leaves some sweat and tears for those setting up their own web servers. What would save a lot of work would be listing the exact package names... e.g. required PHP modules: php-mysql, php-gd (etc... I’m guessing at the exact names... which is exactly the problem... if you don’t know you need them, you’ll never install them... and even if you do know you need them, finding the exact name of the one you need to apt-get or yum install is a real time commitment).
I know it’s asking a lot, and probably 95%+ of web servers will have everything install already, but listing the exact steps/req’s for setting up a new server for MODx use would be extremely helpful. E.g. just knowing that it uses php-mysql instead of php-mysqli would save a lot of research time.
I have a very incomplete list of this that I would post on the Wiki, except for the fact that my server is apparently broken because I’m missing a few key things...
