Root/forum/phpbb3 files..
I want to display my “phpbb forum” on my modx index file. Is this even possible.. ?
Already tryed with a simple<!-- INCLUDE /forum/index.php --> and it dosent seem to work
Help appreciated, thanks.
Easiest is to put your forum to an IFrame and use this to auto resize it to display the full content

Still on topic...
Is there any reason why a forum software has not been properly integrated in to MODx? Why has Joomla and drupal got their act together with a seamless integration? PHPnuke probably had the most integrated forum / site and that’s been out for yonks.... Surely there must be a way to integrate MODx and a forum software? Out of everything that MODx lacks, I personally think forum integration is the most important for community based CMS/CMF. I’m not a programmer so don’t say go do it yourself but some of you guys out there that have made some amazing things happen with MODx surely could spit something out? I know there’s issues with versions of MODx and Forum software but if the likes of Joomla being able to do it then what is stopping MODx for achieving it? The SMF module was nearly there but still didn’t work right.
I’ll put it like this, If I had X amount of cash to pay someone to do it, can it be done or is it simply a fact that MODx can’t do what Joomla and Drupal have successfully done for a while? I have a project coming up for a course I do and I have been asked to create a site and a forum but I would love the 2 to work together so I can use MODx private pages with users signed up to the forum with out the need for 2 registrations and 2 login forms.
I just use Jot snippet for "forum threads" and personal guestbooks. It works but a lot of work getting it nice.

I have a forum with 1500 members and thousands of posts so that would quickly go wrong lol. I just seen the latest CMS awards for 2008 and there’s no MODx... I’m sure if MODx had forum implementation it would help it’s popularity but being over popular could have it’s downfalls I guess. I just think that any community based site has a forum and it would make MODx so much better if there was an integration for a forum software. Before the e-commerce factor was a problem but with the likes of Foxycart it’s not so much a problem now. I have started looking at different CMS/CMF to see if there’s anything out there that is a nice as MODx but with a forum... I don’t want to but a forum is become a very important tool for web sites. This forum shows how important a tool it can be but I doubt there’s anything out there as flexible as MODx but it’s down to what’s more important, a forum or MODx. I’m not saying I’m dropping MODx or speaking bad about MODx cause I truly love MODx and it’s expanded my knowledge greatly, it’s just a bit upsetting that there’s no forum integration and I do mean upsetting! LOL

Well I want to be able to use the front end manager snippet for example so members would have their own editable page? Or have forum members able to access locked pages within MODx... that sort of idea.
I’m studying web dev just now at uni and I just hit my second year so it’s still at the basics unfortunately. I have been asked to create a site for an Adobe certified user group and I would like to use MODx but I have been told there’s got to be a forum... I want to use MODx as I have been learning it for the last 12 months and it’s excellent. My lecturer is certified by Adobe and he wants to create a user group based in my city and he asked me if there was any ideas that I had... MODx was the first thing that came to mind then he mentioned forum and then I thought DOH! He wants private pages like how MODx has web user groups etc... Ryan since MODx is your ’baby’ do you know if it’s possible? I’m a student as I have posted several times so money isn’t abundant but if I could find someone to say YES they can do it then I would see if I can come to an agreement.
I understand the, why create a forum integration for the versions to change but if Joomla or Drupal thought that way then it would never be done. I honestly think that forum integration would be a huge leap in the development of MODx... it’s been asked several times so there’s a market out there. I have 1 site for gamers in the USA and it runs along side MODx just like here, it looks like the MODx site but it’s separate still. I have a mini myspace setup with MODx on this site so users had to sign up twice and then they stopped using it due to the hassle of 2 logins etc and they stuck to the use of the forums only... 50 members of the forum asked why it wasn’t seamless and I explained. I know if I could get it running together that the members would be back using the myspace idea again.

I updated my earlier post. You could have private pages based on the existence of a forum session. Creating private pages on the front end would be a lot more difficult to do and a real reason to have an integrated/common/bridged user system.
