I have a MODX site but I have some other things that I want to host that don't fit well within a CMS.

I can FTP to the server and create a folder to put my files in, but I cant access them from a browser.

What I'm looking for is a way to create a folder (lets go with 'NewFolder') and be able to get to it using www.domain.com/NewFolder

Is there an easy way to do this?

    Thanks

so long as the folder you've created is in your public folder where modx also sits then it should be accessible from the domain

      (usually called htdocs or public_html)

        Yes

Simply add the folder to the same place where you installed MODX

If you installed MODX in the root, simply add the folder there, you can then navigate to the folder as you wish to

The only drawback here is, if you want a resource in MODX with the same alias name as the folder - you can't

          Thanks for the replies.

the site is in a public_html folder so I've created my folder inside there and placed an index.htm file in there so I have something to view.

However, when I go to 'domain.co.uk/NewFolder' or even 'domain.co.uk/NewFolder/index.htm'
          I get a 404 error page.

I've tried creating the folder both inside and outside the public_html folder but get the same results.

Try it in another browser. Ensure that you dont have a resource named the same in MODX as lusemodx also mentioned.

I've tried different names for the folder and different browsers (ie, edge and chrome) and all give the same result.

I feel like there is something simple that I'm missing.....

even if I drop an htm file into one of the existing folders, I cant access it as I would expect.

I can enter domain.co.uk/about/index.html (which I can see in the ftp file structure) and the page loads (although with a different url) but my new file gives a 404.

try creating a normal .txt file and see if that works and do you have friendly urls enabled with a custom htaccess file?

No joy with the .txt file.

                    Friendly urls are enabled.
Not sure about the custom .htaccess file though as someone else originally setup the site.

Really appreciate the help with this. thanks.

Can you post the .htaccess file in the public_html folder?

Feel free to modify the domain name to domain.com.
