2 Problems:
- sort order is alphabetically, difficult to find recent aploaded image
- loading time is huge

Is there a possibility to edit FCKEditor, to have the files sorted by date or last modified, and to have a pagination?

I transferred my site from one host to another. After this, when try to insert image in TinyMCE editor [open document -> edit -> insert image button -> browse button ] the FCK editor shows only the folders in /assets/images. No images are displaying. There are many images in these folders and in root directory[/assset/images/].

Also, I can’t upload images. It shows ’Disallowed type’ error.

When I tried to upgrade it, I got a lot of errors and it made more problem.

File manager path, Resource Path are changed to new one.

FCKeditor v2.3.2
ModX version 2.0 [ it shows 2.0, but actually it is very older version. Older than]

How can I solve this issue?

ps. any support team can help, I’ll send you the details.

Significant problems with FCKeditor https://forums.modx.com/thread/46325/significant-problems-with-fckeditor#dis-post-428551 A project that I have been working on is now at a point where I want to deploy but can’t do so due to the quirkiness and unstable state that the file manager is in. Telling my user to avoid using foreign characters in image names at all costs or suffer the consequences isn’t really a viable strategy at this point.

As reported here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,39380.0.html and here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,39750.0.html there are some yet unresolved issues that I believe is critical. I’ve registered and filled a JIRA-report, and would love to further help out in any way I possibly can but I’m not sure what difference it makes.

Is there any way I can get around the problem in the meantime? Would a migration to Revolution avoid the issue?

Resource Manager not working on remote server https://forums.modx.com/thread/46323/resource-manager-not-working-on-remote-server#dis-post-267828 I too, like many others it seems, am having difficult with the FCKEditor Resource Manager. I’ve trawled through all the other posts but have yet to find an answer. Here’s the issue:

I’m using Modx v1.0.0 straight out of the box. The Resource Browser opens but displays no directory structure or file contents and won’t allow me to create folders or upload images.

The only errors I get are the following Javascript errors, which differ in each browser (FF and IE):

Error: this.DOMDocument is null
Source File: http://www.thewholeworldwindow.com/manager/media/browser/mcpuk/js/fckxml.js
Line: 108

Message: Object required
Line: 159
Char: 2
Code: 0
URI: http://www.thewholeworldwindow.com/manager/media/browser/mcpuk/frmfolders.html

I would have thought this an directory path issue but for the life of me I’ve checked these and they ’seem’ correct. I can also upload files via Modx’ File Manager with no problems at all.

I’ve also tried re-installing - thinking a bad install was the cause but I still get the same.

I have the same modx version installed locally using WAMP Server 2 and that’s working fine (Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.2.8, MYSQL 5.1.30) so it doesn’t seem to like my hosting setup which is running Linux. Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.2.10, MYSQL 5.0.81.

Could the older php version be the cause?

Can anyone please help before I loose all my hair.

Cheers guys!

I’m having real trouble trying to upload images via FCKEditor. The prgress bar goes straight to 50% and stalls, and the upload will not complete. I’m running 1.0.2

I’ve tried using files without any strange characters, spaces, dashes etc.
The files are small (4kb), so I can’t see it can be that.
Pretty sure permissions and file paths are as they should be.

I can upload via an external FTP client fine, and they show up ok in FCKEditor to then select, but I can’t actually upload files with FCKEditor, which I need to work for clients to add images.

Has anybody else had this problem?

i have tested it myself on several systems and browsers and gave no problem, all images (thumbs) are visible...
The client uses an MAC OS 10.6.x and Safari.

I have seen it doesn’t work on that computer.
Also a friend of the client wasn’t able to see the images too on her MAC (don’t know that OS).

Testing on an other MAC here on the office with OS 10.5.x and Safari did work.
I had a demo site on an other hosting which the client tested and that gave no problem on her MAC huh

I really don’t know what i can do. I tried permissions, roles, config, etc.
Am I the only one with this problem? What can i do about it?

* Upload the corresponding files to the root of your MODx site.
uploaded the contents of ’/editor/’ folder to domain/modx/assets/plugins/fckeditor243
* Run the installer (http://www.yoursite.com/install/).
went to installer. used ’upgrade existing install’ - no sign of fckeditor in install
* Select FCKEditor from the list of editors in the MODx configuration (System Configuration / Interface & Editor Settings).

I have a problem with the FCKeditor Resources Browser. When I create a new folder with it and try to upload a file into that I get the following error:

Error, "Failed to upload file, internal error..."

The problem seems to deal with the fact that this new folder is created by the system user "wwwrun". When I create a folder via FTP (which is of course a different user) then it is no problem to upload files via FCKeditor into it. I’m not sure how to solve this. Any suggestions?

Been professionally designing websites for 3 years now.

Downloaded the modx_fckeditor_2.6.5 from 2 different sources.

Using MODx Revolution 2.0.0-pl rev7212

When trying to install am greeted with the message

Setup has carried out a number of checks to see if everything’s ready to start the setup.

Please check the database login details and try again.

Ive noticed that header.php in the modx_fckeditor_2.6.5 --> install folder is like this

Is this correct?

Seeing that I am not being asked any credentials during the installation procedure, and seeing that the error message I am receiving could be insinuating that these would have been entered, I am guessing that header.php is meant to allow me to enter login credentials but is broken????

Otherwise, I am stumped as to why I cannot install the fckeditor.

Have to admit my frustrations with many different open source projects.

While they are fantastic for many, my experiences have mainly been that of frustration.

This case being a prime example.

I also tried to install the ckeditor331-alpha editor.

My frustration stems in that in many cases there is no clear documentation with regards to installing said plugins.

Sticky on top of said thread, titled, ’How to install this plugin’

Should be a standard item, on both the FCKEditor thread, and the CKEditor thread, there is no such thing.

How are newbs, like myself meant to know how to progress, once having downloaded the software??

At this moment, it seems that the installer of said software must already know how to install it!

Newbs, must second guess, pick and poke, spend hours searching forum posts on the internet, in the hope of coming across information that will allow then to learn.

Is this done on purpose, as so to weed out the people who either do not have the time to spend trying to gather this information, or are just toooooooooooooo stupid to work out how to install said software?

Yup, I am sure my frustrations are evident in this post.

Definately a newb to modx, but not a newb to IT in general, hence my frustrations!!!!!

Hope somebody can ignore the negatives in my post, and assist me.

I was just about to send the url out to the client with login details when I thought I had best test everything they would. First thing they would do is try and upload that strange image they have on their destop.

Sooo I went to a page - used the wysiwyg type thing and clicked on image. TynyMce opened up and I clicked on the icon to Image Url that opend FCKeditor. In this window top left said Resource Type under that a menu option with the word images in (thats my only available option) then to the right it a folder with forward slash / next to it. So I click browse and the bottom and select a small jpg and click upload. After that nothing. I dont get any error messages but this. (Upload in progress, please wait... 0%) but my browser says its done. I have left this to do what it needs to do while I went out to do the shopping came back and tiny 89k image still not there.
Hope someone can help - so close now and this is the last stubling block.

Many thanks in advance

Here’s more information. As mentioned above, I’m running MAMP 1.9, which includes "libjpeg.8.dylib". OS X 10.5.8 includes "libJPEG" and "libJP2". From what I’ve gathered from the MAMP forum, this should not cause a conflict.

It would be great, though, if someone from the MODx team would reply with insight. This issue appears to not have occurred for some time and I need to resolve this ASAP. It is imperative that I’m able to see and use jpegs within my dev environment.
