<![CDATA[Open invitation to MODx-ers: code in the sun]]>
I’m running a small web design company based in Thailand. We delivered a few projects for clients in Asia, Australia, and the West. Of course our tool of choice is MODx. I have had a lot of fun working with and learning MODx. And it would not be possible without the help and the support of the MODx community so as a token of my appreciation i would like to extend an open invitation for the fellow MODx-ers to come and spend some time at our Tapong, Thailand headquarters.

You might be wondering why should you care. Well, our headquarters are located 30 meters from one of the longest beaches in Thailand. It also happens to be a very cute guesthouse that i operate with my lovely girlfriend who happens to be a trained chef.
We got a few guest rooms, pool table, and wifi that reaches to our private beach. The place is 2.5 hours from Bangkok and right across the water from the resort island of Koh Samed. I’ve attached a couple of pictures.

If you hail from Northern climes or just sick of the cold, wet winter we got a warm place for you.
In addition to just relaxing I might have some work as well. Our company has seen a pickup in business recently so i continuously need help with delivering projects.
So if you’re looking for a beautiful warm place in the sun for a short vacation or a longer change of scenery let me know.

Yours in MODx,

Kiril Okun

<![CDATA[Experienced MODx Developer, seeking same, to offload some extra work to.]]> I’m an experienced MODx developer, currently in Vancouver, Canada. I’ve got too much work on at the moment and I’ve got an urgent need for an extra pair of hands, starting immediately. I don’t really care where you live, but being in some vaguely US East Coast/Vancouver timezone, or willingness to pretend to be for the duration, would be nice - but not essential.

I’d need someone with Revo experience and FoxyCart or other eCommerce experience. This job is in progress, so you’d need to be able to pick things up mid-stream. I will deal with the clients - you can just deal directly with me. I’m not going to just dump it in your lap - I will do handover and we will split the remaining tasks and work together. I will pay your usual hourly rate, whatever that is.

So, how about it, MODxer’s? Wanna help me out and earn some money at the same time? Let me know, asap!

<![CDATA[Integration of client Wedding Manager into MODX Revolution]]> Currently, I have client who’s Website I have been managing for a number of years. We are in discussions of redesigning the site, and I would like to do it using MODX Revolution if possible, but the client is interested in a client managed back end and I am trying to find out what something of this nature would cost, and how much time it might take for development in MODX (REV).

The basics are as follows:

The client operates a wedding company. As such they offer a number of packages each containing various options. The packages can be modified to some extent by adding, subtracting or swapping features. They collect a deposit based on the package selected and then the balance 30 days before the wedding.

What they would like to do is have the clients signup, or register at the site, pick the package they are interested in, pay a deposit, and from then on, up to 30 days before the wedding, the client can modify or tweak their wedding package all they like. Then at the 30 day mark everything would lock down, and no more changes can be made by the client and the final total/ balance due would then be shown. At that point they would need to call in to make any modifications and the admin would be able to make these changes through the manager.

Currently, credit card payments are not processed online. The payment information is submitted, and then processed manually from their office. This may be something to add in the future but not at the moment unless it is trivial to do so.

Also, I think it would be helpful if notices could be sent to both the client and the company as the 30 day mark nears.

Because of the nature of the business, there may also be additional features that they may want to add as well. Currently aside from photo galleries, they do have a `testimonial` script. I am not sure whether this would or should be integrated into the back end features as well.

Please contact me with questions, specifications, bid information, etc.

<![CDATA[Is modx suitable for an e-commerce site for both B2B and B2C?]]>
I hope there’s some modx experts out there who can help by providing some advice and help for this new project.

I’m hoping to establish a site which will function in two different ways depending upon which market (B2B or B2C) the site visitor falls within.
The site will be owned by a computer equipment importer which doesn’t sell direct to the public but sells to dealers who in turn sell to the public.

If a dealer looking to buy stock visits the site and logs in (they will either be issued with a username and password or can create their own account - that’s yet to be established) they are presented with the normal e-commerce ’experience’ like a traditional shopping cart system, although most business will be through invoicing.
If a member of the public visits they can’t log in so in this mode they can also view the products etc. but instead of adding to a cart they are presented with a list of the dealers who stock that item and from whom they can buy it, with suitable hyperlinks to that product on the dealers site.

It would also be of benefit to allow the dealers to maintain their own list of products, pricing information, and the specific hyperlinks to that product on their site. Keeping this information up-to-date would obviously be in the dealers best interests. Perhaps the list of dealers selling a specific product is presented to the public visitor listed cheapest price first... although that could alienate other dealers... that’s another point to be worked out.

At the moment this is nothing more than an enquiry - your basic ’is this possible using modx plus one or more extras?’.
I’m also looking at modifying a shopping cart system like Magento, so I’ve got quite a few irons in the fire, but I’ve followed modx development over the years and would really like to get my teeth into it (with the help of a modx developer of course).

All suggestions, comments, ideas and feedback on this project is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance for all I (may) receive.

<![CDATA[PHP/MySQL freelancer wanted for car project (with possible Modx integration)]]>
We’re looking for a PHP developer to produce a car sales / classifieds site. Similar functionality to autotrader, or This is for Phase 1 which is basic functionality for the site launch. We have documented requirements and use cases so the project can be fully understood and quoted. Outline functionality is: capability to add vehicle details (including upload of photos), login and edit advert details, the ability for sales enquiries to be made via email and 2 levels of search (simple and advanced multi-field form).

The scope of this work is the web/database engine in PHP/MySQL, which will be presented in our template. We do NOT need creative design or HTML static pages for the site (may use Modx depending on the complexity of doing this...)

We are looking for a strong coder(s) rather than a creative and you must be able to show past work - ideally of a similar nature. The team running this project has plenty of experience running IT projects of varying sizes and types. If we award you the work you will need to sign an NDA. We are based in the UK and you will need to speak extremely fluent or native English.

Please email cczmark at gmail dot com or PM me for more info. If I don’t respond in the next couple of days don’t worry.

<![CDATA[Looking for experienced Modx-er(s)]]>
This is what I’d be looking for in a Modx developer:

- 100% comfortable on Modx Evolution
- Ability to create custom snippets to solve problems that cannot be resolved with the existing array of snippets
- Excellent html/css (valid, semantic, etc)
- Comfortable with jQuery (implement existing solutions as well as customize where necessary)
- Excellent communication and availability during a project

If you’re interested Please PM me with:
(1) at least a 2 Modx sites you’ve built (I’d need Manager access to check how you’ve put the site together etc).
(2) hourly & day rate as an indication (I’d need a project quote when we start).

Thanks.]]> Wed, 08 Jun 2011 08:51:42 +0000
<![CDATA[Developer Wanted for HTML to MODx Template + Foxycart]]>
The site is an ecommerce project with a store of approx 100 items, as well as other info sections. It will require approx. 8 unique pages.

Right now, I am designing the site. I’m having a developer slice it for me, however he is not familiar with MODx, so I’d like to pass it off to someone else once the HTML is finished. I am new to both MODx and Foxycart, so I’m looking for someone who can work with me to determine what I need to deliver to make it happen! Realistically, it will be about a month and a half before the project will be ready to pass off for the MODx development, but I’d like to begin discussing specifics with someone shortly to make work flow smoother up until that point.

Please reply with:

1. Availability
2. Price
3. One website you’ve developed

Feel free to ask me any questions.

<![CDATA[Site Mods - User Profiles/Forum etc]]> anticipated start time - next couple of weeks
anticipated job duration - unsure
budget constraints - negotiable
payment terms - negotiable

I set up and launched my first MODX site just over a year ago, I am a web designer by trade with a basic dev knowledge.

I managed to set up the site with all the features I needed and with help from the forums smiley (its probably not the cleanest set up and lots I would do differently if I was to start from scratch now)

However I now want to develop the site further and think it might be better to out source the work to someone with more skills/experience in MODX, I could probably do most myself but dont have the time I used to have to experiment etc.

The site has many plugins, WebLoginPE, Jot, AnythingRating, TXNewsletters and a few other popular MODx Plugins.

Although WebLoginPE is installed and works, people can sign up and login.. I wasnt that sure what I was doing when I set it up and not really sure how it works and how I can modify it.

I want to either create custom or build upon web login PE to allow users to sign up and create profiles and be able to communicate with each other, (the full socail features, walls, updates etc. would be good, but willing to discuss exaclty what is needed, could be more basic for now, main aim at the minute is to integrate user profiles of site, with forum profiles).

I also want to add a forum to the site, I am aware N!CE is about to release a plugin to connect MODx and phpBB, but this is for Evo and I am on Revo, I could downgrade and try it myself, but if someone could do it as is and tie in logins/user profiles thats what I am looking for.

We use Anything Rating on the site, but want to implement a much better rating system, possible where a user must be logged in to leave a rating. Or maybe you must be logged in leave a review/rating as one and the the rating score is calculted from these, we get a lot of people click happy/clearing cookies and clicking a rating in to boost them up..

The overall aim is to enhance the socail element, at present there is no reason for a user to register.. once the log in the have a poor profile and have no extra benefits..

We also want to introduce an ’affiliate store’ to the site, again I could probably cobble something together, but if someone has experience in this I would like their help. I presume it works on rss, the affiliate programs provide feeds, but I want to be able to do advanced category filtering between products from various affilaite programs.

These jobs could be split up, i.e. social/user profiles and forum integration one part and the affiliate store another.

As I say I have good html, css and design skills, so most work will be dev work getting functionallity working, rather than making it look pretty.

There is potential for future work if all goes well, lots of ideas.. just need to get them into place smiley

Drop me a line if you are intersted or require more information.

<![CDATA[Looking for quality contractors]]>
We aren’t looking for help building MODX based websites, those skills are covered, we need PHP experts to help us expand the functions of Revo to include custom features not available via currently existing add-ons or core functions. All developed snippets/add-ons will be made available to the MODX community.

<![CDATA[Looking for (long-term) experienced Modx developers]]>
I am currently looking for experienced Modx developers who can help setup, modify and occasionally custom build functionalities in Modx.

The sites are generally very straightforward with the following functions:
- Semantic and valid xHTML/CSS/JS coding
- Jquery implementations
- Multilanguage
- Extranet module

Please let me know if you like to help out and send a few example sites you’ve done along with rough estimate on your price when doing a setting up basic Modx site.

Thanks in advance!

<![CDATA[Urgent need for REVO project]]>
France only.

I need for a probable new project a Revo DEV to help me . I integrates and do whatever will be necessary but not a hard coder. My ’legal’ dev is too busy to handle this time.
You will be mostly in charge for developping the specific part in backend (not that much I assume) plus some Front snippet.

Problem is: if this starts it would be next week and need to be closed by the 15th of June.
Really short, maybe 1 week more ...

Customer provides graphic design and ’spec". I’m trying to synthetis this as much as I can.

Budget is 1000€ for this dev. Preferably should be able to invoice it self to my commercial partner.
Please contact me here and MP.
