Hi guys...
This is what I need to do:
Create a kind of extranet.
Basically a user enters a username and password and logs in.
User is taken to a customized home page (modx admins should be able to edit this homepage)
All extranet users should have access to a basic navigation, however modx admins should have the ability to add in new pages that are user specific.
Is there an easy way of doing this within the MODx Web User structure?
Cheers,
Justin
admin: title change for clarity
Yes, use web user groups and document groups and web users. Assign the private pages to the corresponding document groups, and only logged-in web users assigned to the related web user groups can see them. They won’t even show up in a menu for anyone else.

How do I just show this web users document group?
ie say all users come to a common page....is there a way to tell wayfinder to pull out common nav and anything in the "jusmeig" document group?
Wayfinder will pull out all documents not assigned to a web group/document group pairing; these documents show the All Document Groups (Public) box checked.
Then it will only display pages in a checked document group to logged-in web users assigned to the corresponding web group.
Set up the web user group/document group pairing in "Security -> Web Permissions". Assign a private document to that document group when you create/edit it. Assign web users to the corresponding web user group when you create/edit the user in "Security -> Web Users".

erm....is the doc group inherited?
When I create a container called:
User Documents and add in two pages with different document groups, a user with access to just the first group can see both documents in the container? Is this a bug? the user should not see the second document as I never added the group association?
No, doc groups have to be assigned to each page.

Hi there,
Is this how it works:
Web user extranetuser1 can access: common, user1 docs
For some reason when I create user2 docs......the guy above can still see them?
Wayfinder is listing the document in navigation event tho this guy has no access to it?

Please ignore above!
I had no created a web user group to associate the new document group, so the doc access was still "public", when I created the user group it was hidden.
It all becomes clear eventually
The thing is, a document group can be applied to either a web user group or a manager group. So it has to be connected to a corresponding user group to be hidden from those not assigned to that group, whether for Manager access or front-end web access.
