Maybe I should just stick with Dreamweaver lol...I can’t seem to make it past installation!
Under the Connection Information screen...
• When I test the server connection it passes
• Then testing the database fails...says, "Failed–could not create database." This is the info I have below...
Database name: modx
Table prefix: modx_
Connection method: SET CHARACTER SET
Collation: utf8_general_ci

Re: Checking database: failed - could not create database
If it can’t solve your problem too, check your MySQL settings with
phpmyadmin (you can install it seperatelly first).
See whether the ModX’s installation setting on MySQL is the same as your MySQL setting or not.
Here’s the example in my localhost setting (attached).
