I like FoxyCart too, but depending on how many items you are planning on selling and how stingy your client is ie. to warrant the $15 month charge, you may want to look into E-Junkies www.fatfreecart.com for a free low key solution. It ties the Paypal API in with MODx, so it may be worth at least looking at.

I used it over on http://www.wssunaa.org/index.php?id=188 if you want to have a look(note my example only uses Paypal, but googleCheckout is also an option).

      Greetings chinesedream,

I’ll need to create a tut which explains what you’re asking for below. I’ve begun to start making screencasts for FoxyCart and I’m going to start creating some for MODx so users like yourself see how easy it is to integrate. Here’s my first stab at a screencast...it’s my first one I’ve done and more will be rolling out soon...but I hope it gives you an overview of just how easy it is to incorporate FoxyCart into your site (sorry for the hum in the audio...working on fixing that):

Flinx, thank you soooo much!!! It’s very very nice of you making the tutorial in QT, I am eternally grateful!!!

Looking forward for more tutorial smiley

Thanks Flinx and Taff. Ecommerce is definitely a biggie that’s needed for modx.
I’m also looking at how to integrate a shopping cart into modx as seamlessly as possible for a used book site. For the 4,000+ books offered, they need to be able to be populated on pages from a delimited text file that has current pricing, quantity, title, category, etc. which is updated daily. Cart needs to have ability to organize books into categories, by title, author, price, with discounts offered for quantity purchases and repeat customers.
Needs to be able to accept payments via Paypal, Google Checkout, or using Amazon Flexible Payments (see http://www.amazon.com/b?node=342430011).
I’m not a programming guru, so am looking for "seamless" as possible.
As for FoxyCart, are there plans for it to be added here? - https://www.paypal.com/en_US/html/SolutionsDirectory/sd_wp-pro-us.html.
Also, has anyone had experience with those listed, and integration with modx?

You may want to check out http://www.magentocommerce.com as they have created an import engine that will likely meet your needs.

It surely is. Usually use digital, but when I have lots of time I take out my two AE-1s, one with a zoom lens, the other with a wide angle. Have taken some awesome photos with over the years.

Anyone mentioned CubeCart? I don’t integrate the admin side, but I do integrate the design so navigation between MODx and CC is seamless to visitors, which to me is the important bit. The template system is fairly compatible with MODx, in that the top level template can be adapted for the other quite easily.

Although I can see the benefits of having something like treasurechestcart integrated into MODx, I think when you’re dealing with online sales having a proper cart package is better long term. More features from the outset to sell your wares.
                  • I worked with CubeCart extensively last year, and it was a nightmare. Hacks left and right, impossible to upgrade because of the hacks, every client wanted something different. Hacks over hacks, having to pick through the code to figure out where to put hack c on top of hack b which was installed over hack a. I will never work with it again. You couldn’t offer to pay me enough to do it. But that’s only my opinion. I’m sure others like it fine.

No solution is perfect for everyone. I deal with a lot of small businesses, they just want a simple cart system which is easy to use... these are the same people who find MODx too complicated, even with a restricted account hiding what they will never need.
