I am trying to install packages on a fresh instance of ModX. I can download (and upload) packages fine but when I hit install the Console appears but does nothing - it just says "Console running..." and no commands appear.

If I close the Console window it will say the package is installed but it will not work.

Would anyone know what I can do to fix this?

    Thanks

Sounds like a permission problem, try clearing your modx cache and check the core/packages has the correct permissions so they can unpack and install properly.

To further expand on natedin suggested.

I would force all users to log out and then manually delete the /core/cache folder via FTP/SFTP/SSH/etc.

I would then uninstall the package.
        Then remove it.

        Redownload it and start over.

Out of curiosity, which Package is it?

ive just had the same problem. its the core/cache folder thats the issue. ensure that this folder is writable and clear the modx cache, log out, and manually delete everything in the core/cache folder, clear your local cache. this will resolve your issue.

i assume that when you click the download button for the add-on in the package manager it downloads fine and shows it in the home installer? if yes then it should be ok. if not then your core/packages folder needs to be writable

Both of these folders should be writable after the initial install, and as such should not be an issue later - unless the admin changed the permissions. Then they should know to put them back when necessary.

I would *not* suggest deleting the packages folder.

+1 on this. The package records would remain in the database and your error log would be peppered with entries.

On the blank console, try reloading the page in your browser after downloading the package, but before trying to install it.

This could also be an issue with one of your browser add-ons or with your host's mod_security settings.
