With our next update, we are switching our website to SSL throughout. I am trying to figure out how to force the site_url value to display https.
I have the usual <base href="[[++site_url]]"> inserted in the head. And I tried modifying the link_tag_scheme to have the value https. But the site_url continues to produce just
http://mydomain.com.
While I could hard code the base href with the https version in the final production templates, I imagine there must be a way to do this automagically within MODX.
Edit the server_protocol System Setting, that might be what you need.

That didn't seem to change anything either. Still getting standard http on the base href.

That is what I will do at this point, just figured there might be a way to do it within MODX.

i asked the same question awhile back and it seems as though you simply modify the .htaccess file to do this. the site_url is generated dynamically from the url.
