There are a number of these out there (most are free at some hosts). The trouble is that they don't always have timely upgrades and I've seen numerous reports where the upgrade didn't work.
This is a much better alternative, imo:

I have had the install.php script fail once, possibly because it was unable to modify the PHP timeout settings. If the timeout is reached before the MODX archive is downloaded, then it will fail. There may have been memory limits involved during the unzip process as well. But I've only had this happen once, and it was a dodgy hosting plan anyway; the client has since moved to a different hosting provider and the script worked just fine.

Yes, I've used the installer script. Very slick.
I know some hosts have install scripts, which I've had spotty success and yes, they're typically not current.
This one sounded different than most hosting scripts because it touts, backups and cloning so I was curious.
