Ok, i'm in the process of updating all my Modx Sites to the awesome new 2.3! laugh

Unfortunately I have hit a roadblock on the first one. >_<

    The problem:

After uploading and installing a fresh copy of 2.3 I downloaded today, my next step is to download all the extras being used by my current site, except when I click download for any extra in the installer all I get is a never ending "downloading" dialog.

This seems to happen regardless of which extra i'm trying to download.

    What i've tried:

I've already tried clearing the cache in the manager, cleared my browser cache and deleted the contents of the Core Cache via FTP.

Then when that didn't work I performed and upgrade install, still no change.

Not sure it matters but the host for this one is GoDaddy.

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated, as i've got about 7 of these things to do smiley

Hello, I cant responde to this problem but for your site you can do that thing :
Download your extras via modx website and upload it with your ftp in '/core/packages/'. You can install then with package manager.

        Update

So I've noticed the issue only occurs if you uncheck the box to delete the setup directory during setup.

Thanks for the tip anatole44, that's what I ended up doing. Just wanted to report a possible bug.

Note that if you do it this way, you won't see updates in Package Manager and won't be able to update through Package Manager, so you'll have to check periodically to see if there are updated versions of your extras.

          • If you do find yourself in this situation, delete the setup directory.

Actually, I found that this worked sometimes, with errors other times. A final solution was to re-run setup in upgrade mode, and this time check the "remove setup" box. [ed. note: sottwell last edited this post 9 years, 9 months ago.]

I believe you, but I can't imagine why that would affect Package Manager. huh

Thank you all so much for your help and the work you do on Modx. smiley

This is a very bizarre issue, but sottwell's method worked.

And BobRay thanks for the tip on not being able to update through the package manager if extras are loaded via FTP and not the manager itself. I went back and set those up right once I got the manager working thanks to this thread. smiley

Actually, if you upload an extra manually, you can change it so that you will see the updates. In the package manager, click the View Details button for the extra in question, then change the Provider to MODX and save it.
                  • Now that is a nice thing to know! Can I put that in my list of Things To Put In the Cookbook?

I knew you could update the provider in the DB, but I wasn't aware that there was an easier way. Thanks.
