Spam getting past hidden field

Edit: What you should do is rename the field. It might cause spam because the name of the field contains "email". Bots usually picks this up.

I understand that CSS is not the "trick". The real change is (thank you Susan) is adding [[!+fi.workemail]] to the value in the field that has :blank validation.

I'm wondering is this required for this to work? Does the tutorial needs to be updated?

Looks like it. While it works on first submit, for it to work on subsequent submissions it does need to be carried across the page refresh.
