Everytime I install an extra that uses the Component Tab, whenever I try to load it, it redirects to the site 404 error page. Anyone have any ideas about why that might be?
I suspect either a htaccess rewrite issue or maybe something with my host provider.
Thanks
More info:
Just tried it with a blank htaccess file and still got the same issue.
Also tried installing modx in a sub directory, and it worked fine.
It's only when I have modx in the root directory that I seem to be having the problem.

OK,
I think I've found the problem, or at least a way around it.
My host was using an automated install of Modx called Installatron. Real easy and updates Modx automatically.
However, I tried a manual install and that seems to have got around the problem, fingers crossed.

It's not uncommon for the host-provided auto installs to have problems. I'm glad you got it sorted.

Yeh,
took the opportunity to do a hardened install at the same time.
