Hi guys, any idea when 2.3 will be released and stable? About to start a new client project and not sure if worth waiting for it?

An answer but not an answer.
We do not have a specific timeline on 2.3 at the moment. I'd guess a PL release is more than month away after a beta period.
Re: Bruno17's link: We are in the process of migrating the issues from bugs.modx.com to GithHub and we'll most likely revisit creating/update the project and work outstanding after it's completed, hopefully by the end of this week.
If you're embarking on a project, I'd recommend 2.2.x and then as 2.3 comes out, upgrade and make what minor adjustments are needed, if any. Of course the other option is to develop on the 2.3 from git if you're not afraid of potential instability and guaranteed bugs.

The only thing I really have a problem with as far as using 2.3 is that there are one or two major extras that I use a lot that don't work well (or at all) with 2.3 at this point. I presume that once the beta is released the developers will update their extras.

Speaking for MIGX. Some time ago, I had MIGX allready working on an early version of 2.3.
I'm starting investing time into it again, not before a beta, or before I can be sure, its stable enough.
I can definitely understand waiting for the beta.
