  • Revo 2.2.7 and Articles 1.6.5.
Site is on HostMonster.com and one of my space runs includes a Drupal social network site with over 60 modules (so memory, no problem.

Seems the articles extra is the most buggy MODx extra all time.

Initally, I tried to install locally: I didn't find the Quip tab under compotent. This happened few months ago when I first attempted to use the extra called articles, but now I thought it be more stable.

So I then decided install it on the site I'm currently working on. It seem to work well with two test articles I posted. Then suddenly I couldn't view the article container nor the articles except I make the site status active (Yes) - previously I could view as an admin with the site offline. Tried and tired for hours until I stumbled on a post my sottwell suggesting restarting the browser.

This resolved the container but not the child articles (one had the site url instead of site.com/articles/2013/05/06, it had site.com. The other had the correct url but bounces back to the index page - even when I'm logged in as admin and the site status set to YES)

Two days with cumulative 8 hours gone. No show.

Third day - I read a post removing the quip table in the database and unstalling and reinstalling solves the buggy issues - I tried this, no show.

Another post talked about removing entirely the articles extra and re-downloading from the package management page. I tried this and I can no longer view even the articles container resource in the manager. When you click, you only "Edit article" in the title bar, the resource fileds are not visible, just a grey bank space next to the resource tree.

I uninstalled and installed, removed and reinstalled. Same situation.

And I'm asking myself: even if I'm able to resolve this, how are mine sure articles won't start messing when the client start using the site with, say, 100 articles sitting on it.

My temporal solutions is add disqus to my template and have client set up articles under a resource container.
I see many have spent unnecessary, countless hours trying to get Articles working. That's why I'm writing this long epistle.

The DISCUSS extra is more stable, so I wonder why the ARTICLES is left to remain in alpha.

    I give up

      • Thank you sottwell. I really would love to have comments stored and not house on a service.

In your experience, is the Quip extra stable enough? I don't want to deliver headaches.

        I appreciate.
        • Quip seems just fine.
