The simplest method would be to pass the name as a property in the snippet tag:
[[MySnippet? &myName=`MySnippet`]]
The name would be available in the snippet as:
$scriptProperties['myName'];

Hi Bob,
Nice thought but I cant do that. The reason why is that the FormIt postHooks get run back through the same snippet and I don't think I can get FormIt to pass a variable through. Basically FormItBuilder attempts to use a single snippet for the form, email output and everything.
So at the moment I'm a bit stuck needing to declare a variable inside the snippet itself with its own name.

PostHooks, IIRC, get all the properties in the FormIt tag.
