I've seen lots of old topics on this. What's the latest?

On my current web site (without MODX), I keep two identical versions: one that's live, one that has the next set of changes I'm working on.

I send my reviewers to the non-live site, get feedback, edit more, etc. When everybody's happy with changes, I copy over to live site.

I was hoping I could improve on this process In MODX. For example, I wish I were allowed to take an existing/published page, make some changes on it and get it reviewed without ever touching the published version.

If this is part of an upcoming release (workflow functionality), does anyone one know how soon?
In the meantime any workaround suggestions?

    Thanks. -Dwayne

I haven't really thoght about this as a particular functionality to be implemented.... all I do as a workaround, is duplicating the page, make the necessary changes and share a link to it for preview. If everything is fine I simply swap the pages. The only thing that could bother in the long run is that each time a page is created then cancelled, the DB is wasting an ID... but I think I can survive to that. ^___^

    Thanks for your answers...

Bob, I'm really not sure how to apply the Articles extra to my situation. I wasn't so much thinking about a history trail of posts to be published for all to see. I want to be able to give private access to my updates to a handful of reviewers BEFORE I publish over the existing page.

Alby54, Yeah, maybe---since I haven't done a lot of hands on work with MODX yet---I'm overthinking this. Maybe it's so simple to copy/swap pages out to a targeted review link as you describe, that none of this is an issue. Guess it's time to dive in.

    Thanks. -Dwayne

Articles lets you review new posts in the Manager before they are published. Although it's designed primarily for blogging, the articles are just regular resources and you can display them however you like.

You could also use NewsPublisher to let you, or others, create new, unpublished docs in the front end and then give certain users view_unpublished permission and send them a link to the new page. You could use Quip to let them comment on the page when they view it.
