Hello, all. I am trying to use the Manager to upload pdf files to my site using MODx 0.9.5 (Ubuntu 7.0.4 - Feisty). I go to Resources / Manage Files. I then click on assets and then docs. I click on Browse and select my file. It shows up in the list with an X in the check box. I click on Upload file and receive no error messages yet the file does not appear in the file list and is not in the directory if I check from the command line.
The directory shows writable in the File Manager. It has the same permissions as the images directory to which I have successfully uploaded images. Here is the directory listing:

I have subsequently noticed that in contradiction to the documentation, files go in the files and not the docs directory. However, it still doesn’t work, i.e., if I manually copy the file into files, it is available in the link dialog but if I try to upload using the File Manager, it fails as previously described. Thanks - John

What’s your LAMP setup like? What versions of Apache, MySQL, and PHP are you using? Also, how is PHP setup with Apache? CGI or module? Is Apache running under the www-data user/group? That can have an impact on things. Also, it looks like the directories are only writable by the www-data user (755). Probably need to make it writable to the group as well (775) or perhaps just make the directories you need writable to everyone (777). If this is just a local test server you can probably get away with that.
