A beta version of this tool has been used to check some language files. See http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,25503.msg158839.html#msg158839
This tool which is not a MODx add-on, could be usefull (I hope) for anyone who is involved in MODx language file translation.
Description:
Checks the labels of one or several language files regarding the english file reference. Installer ou manager files could be selected.
For each language providse the list of labels not translated and the list of useless labels.
Works on local environment without MODx.
[EDIT: Find here the version 1.1 of this tool]

Its really very strange. I downloaded the file several times, tried to unzip it, but it keeps giving me the same errors - "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged" and nothing else happens. I guess I wll be useing the old one (beta one), that I downloaded few days ago, before it was updated. Very strange, hapens for the first time. Any suggestions?
